Rampage Sport Fishing Yachts is Top Seller in its Category

Independent boat maker bucks tough market with amenities, aggressive marketing and factory incentives

Navassa, NC, July 11, 2006 -- For the second consecutive year, sales at Rampage Sport Fishing Yachts are growing faster than at any other sport fishing yacht maker in the inboard 30- to 48-foot category.  Beating out some of the marine industry’s most recognized names, Rampage retail sales in calendar year 2005 grew by more than 30 percent over 2004.  In contrast, its closest competitor gained only 10 percent in retail sales. Additionally, in the 38’ – 41’ inboard sport fishing yacht category, Rampage grabbed the largest market share at more than 23 percent.

To take advantage of Rampage’s unmatched growth and leadership position, the company is developing a new 41’ Express sport fishing yacht that it plans to debut at next year’s Miami International Boat Show.  The new 41’ Express will include ideas and input from both dealers and owners with the goal of engineering an even better fishing and yachting experience.

“In addition to our commitment to quality and innovation, Rampage’s escalating sales and growing product line is a result of our strong connection to big game fishing and the people for whom it is a passion,” says Rick Jelinksi, Rampage general manager.  “Already, there is much anticipation for our newest product launch.”

Jelinski credits Rampage’s growth in a challenging market to:

  • Aggressive marketing, including a deal with Capt. Tred Barta, of OLN’s top-rated “The Best & Worst of Tred Bart,” serving as a Rampage spokesman
  • A better articulated brand position as “The Offshore Authority”
  • A new strategic partnership with CAT Marine Engines, Kohler and Crusader engines to compete as a strong independent yacht maker and bring more innovation to the factory floor
  • Feature-rich yachts with amenities typically found only on much larger vessels, such as the 428-gallon fuel capacity and specially-designed Frigid Rigid® ice management system on the limited 33’ Barta Canyon Edition
  • Positive owner experiences built on interior and equipment design flexibility and strong factory responsiveness to any issue
  • Solid dealers and dealer/factory relations
  • Factory incentives that consumers value, like gift cards and extended engine warranties

Lastly, Rampage bulked up its Internet presence with a redesigned Web site featuring owner-submitted fishing photos, an online catalog, links to seasonal blue water fishing tournaments and Capt. Tred Barta’s top-rated cable sports show, downloadable product sheets and photos and specialty Rampage gear.

Rampage Sport Fishing Yachts, “The Offshore Authority”, designs and builds rugged blue-water sport fishing yachts that combine comfort and convenience with speed, durability and performance-focused engineering.  Based in Navassa, N.C., Rampage creates highly fishable express and convertible sport fishing yachts, 30 to 45 feet, in 344,000 square feet of state-of-the-art production facilities.  To see a Rampage Sport Fishing Yacht, or locate a dealer, visit www.rampageyachts.com.
