Rampage Sport Fishing Yachts Signs on as 10-year Gold Sponsor of Barta Boys and Girls Club Billfish Tournament
Navassa, N.C., August 1, 2005 -- Rampage Sport Fishing Yachts today announced that it has signed on as a 10-year Gold Sponsor for Tred Barta’s Annual Barta Boys & Girls Club Billfish Tournament held in July off the coast of Beaufort, N.C. The event raises money for Boys and Girls Clubs throughout coastal Carolina. Pete Gillon, brand manager for Rampage, made today’s announcement.

And Gillon should know. He and his Rampage team competed from a 45-foot convertible powered by twin CAT® C18 marine engines, supplied by Gregory Poole Equipment Company. In addition, new Rampage dealer 70 West Marine from Morehead, N.C., entered a 38’ express. Dave Pagliughi, Rampage marketing services manager, and his six-year-old son, Coy caught and released a white marlin.
Rampage’s gold sponsorship began with this year’s event and will continue through 2015. Event coordinators said 143 boats participated with 112 billfish releases in 12 hours of fishing. Also, organizers noted that kids 14 years old and younger caught 90 percent the total billfish take. Last year, the Barta Boys and Girls Club Billfish Tournament raised $40,000.
With 40 additional boats competing in this year’s tournament, event organizers expect 2005 proceeds to significantly increase from 2004.
